The Internet has become the most superior means of communication, and it is on the Internet that the training, and the ordering of products, are done by developers of multi-level marketing plans. The internet has provided rapid expansion and growth of multi-level marketing businesses. The communication between sponsor and distributor is quicker, and everything is much faster-moving.

On the Internet you will see “Virtual MLM” companies. You can download the company’s documentation, distributor agreement, sales kit, procedures and policies. The distributors will have direct access to the company to place their orders.

However, MLM companies will have to face new challenges, as well as new opportunities, in the years to come.

1. FTC Sweeps
MLM companies should understand that anything that is launched on the internet is transmitted directly to the FTC and the state regulatory agencies. The FTC will post restrictions for health claims and earning claims.

2. Internet Pyramid
Pyramid schemes are expected to flourish on the internet. On the Internet it is much easier to scam people, since the companies are not visible, and the people operating the pyramiding scheme can hide more easily.

3. Internet Rumors
Communication on the Internet is instant. False rumors can spread fast. Since communication is just a button away, accusations and rumors can be pass from distributor-to-distributor-to-distributor.

4. Entitled to a Website?
Multi-level marketing companies are prohibiting their distributors from building related websites. This is a common problem of the MLM companies; they are concerned that their site name will be lost when people use the search engines; the most important concern of the MLM company is that there will be improper medical claims and earnings claims on a distributor’s own site.

5. Who’s on first?
In reality the person whose name came out on the “paper” of the distributor’s application is the legitimate sponsor. But on the Internet it is more complicated. When the applications of the distributors are received on the Internet, the problem of authentication arises.

6. The “Spam” Problem
“Spam” has become a dirty word on the internet. Unwanted “spams” can degrade the name of the MLM entity. Unfortunately, distributors use autoresponse to their email list to give away information regarding their products, and about the MLM company. This is sometimes referred to as “nuisance business”, because of unwanted spamming.

The Internet opens more doors for MLM communication purposes. It gives the companies easier ways to communicate and expand their business around the globe. However, there are challenges that MLM Companies will have to face, and do something about.
